Julee Cruise - Floating into the night
http://......www.juleecruise.net
http://www.myspace.com/juleecruise
Origine du Groupe : V.A World
Style : Downtempo , Ambient , Vocal
Sortie : 1989
magique.

Syreeta - One To One

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syreeta_Wright
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syreeta_Wright
Origine du Groupe : North America
Style : Soul
Sortie : 1977
By A mind with no ceiling from http://oufarkhan.blogspot.com
The third album by Syreeta, that time backed by Leon Ware on the Tamla imprint, including the participation of Gary Bartz on a couple of tracks. Quoting Dusty Groove, as often, this is 'beautiful
spacey soul from Syreeta -- and proof that she was one of Motown's great lost talents of the 70s! Leon Ware did the production, and Syreeta's high Minnie Riperton-esque voice is backed by a
smooth set of mellow grooves with lots of cool electronic bits and weird moogy parts that remind us of Ware's own "Musical Massage" LP.
The whole thing's a wonderful blend of spacey soul -- and we rank it right up there with the best work by Ware, Riperton, and some of our other 70s mellow soul favorites. Tracks include "I Don't
Know", "Rest Yourself", "One To One", and my personal fave "Tiki Tiki Donga".
Beautiful cover art, too!
Line Up :
Lead vocals by Syreeta Wright
Background vocals by Syreeta Wright, Leon Ware, Jim Gilstrap, Marietta Araiza, and Stevie Wonder
Bass guitar by Chuck Rainey and Curtis Robertson Jr.
Guitars by David T. Walker, Greg Poree, Marc Silverman, Mike Sembello, Ray Parker Jr., and Steve Buckmeier
Drums by Alvin Taylor, Howard King, and James Gadson
Keyboards by Greg Phillinganes, John Barnes, and Sonny Burke
Percussion by Eddie "Bongo" Brown and Mayuto
Saxophone solo by Gary Bartz

Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns - Lucky Devil

http://www.myspace.com/meschiyalake
Origine du Groupe : North America
Style : Jazz , New Orleans Jazz , Vocal
Sortie : 2010
By rfccbh from http://rfccbh.blogspot.com
Produced by New Orleans torch, blues, and jazz chanteuse, Meschiya Lake, the Little Big Horns debut release, Lucky Devil, leaves listeners feeling satisfied. Artfully recognizing traditional
style with an intensity and energy that delights audiences of any age. This album, an instant classic, accurately represents the current movement joining musicians and dancers.
For the past few years, on any given day, tourists and residents walking on Frenchmen or Royal streets would have been treated to the throaty warble of Meschiya Lake floating atop a cornet,
trombone or sousaphone. This year?
"I can't even get a spot on the street anymore," Lake says, laughing. Not that she's complaining. "I don't want to wake up at three in the morning to get a spot. I have."
As the gigantic voice of the ubiquitous New York City/New Orleans jazz collective Loose Marbles, Lake, 30, was as much a downtown fixture as Grandpa Elliott or Mr. Okra — a distinctive star
belting out Depression-era standards, surrounded by a crescent of ratchet-tight string, brass and rhythm players. Writer Dan Baum profiled the group in a glowing New Yorker piece in May 2007, but
a potentially greater honor came that summer, on its annual pilgrimage to Manhattan's Washington Square Park. "That was our office," Lake says. "We got voted by the drug dealers as the best band
in the park. That was a very momentous occasion for us. They're listening to it all the time."
Now, with her spin-off band the Little Big Horns, Lake is stoking the embers of another extinguished tradition: the social dance and floor show. Every Monday at Mimi's in the Marigny, the Little
Big Horns turn back the clock, reanimating Jelly Roll Morton, Bessie Smith and Duke Ellington as some of the city's best swing dancers instruct left-footed locals on the twists and twirls of the
Charleston and Lindy Hop.
"We're all friends," Lake says. "They come to the Spotted Cat (on Tuesdays), too — pretty much every gig we have. Which makes the energy of it incredible. When they're not there, I miss
them."
For the release of the Little Big Horns' self-issued debut, Lucky Devil, Lake and a clutch of dancers (including NOLA Jitterbugs' Chance Bushman and Amy Johnson and Fleur de Tease's Trixie Minx
and Alley Oops) are transforming the pit at One Eyed Jacks into their own personal ballroom. "Old-timey entertainment," Lake says. "Three sets, four performers. The last one's going to have two,
for the grand finale. Between the performances people are going to strut their stuff on the dance floor. One Eyed Jacks is the perfect place for it."
Captured during two sessions in December and January at Tatiana Clay's historic 511 Royal St. residence, Lucky Devil contains a mix of Lake's treasured classics and two originals, the swinging
"Do For Myself" and Spanish-tinged "Slowburn," that hardly feel out of place. "Singing those songs for a living the last few years, you get to know the form of it," she says. "Once you know the
form, you can apply it."
Lake, whose first weekly gig came at age 9, covering Patsy Cline and Tanya Tucker for country fans at the Elk Creek Steakhouse & Lounge in Piedmont, S.D., says it wasn't luck that led her to
Jelly Roll Morton's childhood home at the corner of Frenchmen and North Robertson streets, where she's lived since February. Morton's "Sweet Substitute" is a Little Big Horns live staple and the
ninth track on the LP.
"I would call it fate," she says. "My landlord is a man named Jack Stewart, who also plays in the New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra. He's owned it since 1976, as Section 8 housing. He got
a grant from the historical society to renovate it and we moved in.
"He's excited that jazz musicians and dancers are in there," Lake adds. "He was super stoked that we even knew who Jelly Roll Morton was."
Line Up :
Meschiya Lake - vocals
Jason "Uncle Jack" Jurzak - sousaphone, bass, percussion

Danay Suarez // Havana Cultura Sessions by Brownswood
From http://twistedjazz.blogspot.com
“She’s amazing. A phenomenon. The most impressive singer I’ve heard and worked with over the last five years.”
- Gilles Peterson
Havana Cultura – the global arts initiative by Havana Club that champions the work of some of Havana’s most exciting yet unseen creative talent - is presenting the latest chapter in Havana
Cultura music releases. Under the creative directorship of Gilles Peterson, the first in a series of Havana Cultura Sessions highlights the vocal talents of Danay Suarez, backed by the masterful
Roberto Fonseca and the elite Havana Cultura band.
Taking up residence once more in Havana’s legendary EGREM studios for five days in May 2010 Gilles Peterson, Roberto Fonseca and their handpicked Havana Cultura band came together to practice for
their European tour. The rehearsals were intense leading an excited Gilles to spontaneously book an extra day in the studio to record a handful of songs with Danay.
Danay possesses one of those rare voices which can shift - glide - through many vocal identities: as a soul and R&B singer and a cocktail jazz expressionist as well as a skilful improviser
that makes her an effortless, articulate rapper. Her words flow fast, rhythmic and unpredictable and always finding or creating spaces that emphasize the emotional elements.
Danay Suarez – Havana Cultura Sessions is the latest album in a series of cultural projects from Havana Cultura celebrating fresh talent across all artistic disciplines. Since its inception in
2007, the initiative has provided an important platform for creative expression to aspiring film producers, visual artists, dancers and musicians. Havana-cultura.com showcases the remarkable
profiles and work of such artists whose creativity would otherwise remain indefinitely obscured.

Lisbeth Scott - Passionate Voice
http://www.myspace.com/lisbethscottmusic
Origine du Groupe : North America
Style : Folk , Alternative , Vocal
Sortie : 2005
On this exceptional album, Lisbeth incorporates world influences, irresistible pop hooks and folk sensibility to create a masterful and achingly lovely listening experience. From the first
strains to the last, these songs will open your eyes and heart to Creator’s presence, the divinity within all things, and the power of believing in love. It’s truly a magical, holy voyage. The
album opens and closes with “Reveal”, a beautiful, mysterious and tender piece, in which Lisbeth’s angelic vocals sparkle. “To Love And Be Loved” is a testament to the power of true love, with
it’s message that “we’re all here to love and be loved.” “Give” is a stunning song, with a wonderful Celtic feel, fantastic uplifting lyrics, and such sincerity! “All Of These Years” is a song
about second chances; with a fabulous pop vibe and a chorus you’ll sing all day! “Grace” is my favorite song from the album, showcasing Lisbeth’s range, and with lyrics that will bring you to
tears. It’s a powerful anthem! “Surrender” is a tender piece about giving your needs over to Creator, and Lisbeth’s delivery is truly superb. “No One But You” has great orchestration, a catchy
chorus, and as always, wonderful lyrics. “Stones” is all about forgiveness and release, and the lyrics will take your breath away with their sheer sincere intensity. The title track, “Passionate
Voice”, is a magical song about how our ancestors understood the union and oneness of God and humanity. It is very thought provoking, to be certain. Lisbeth is a fantastic singer, and a glorious
lyricist. Her passion is evident in every song, as is her beautiful spirit. Join her on this awesome journey. You’ll be so glad you did!!! Worth every cent. A magical masterpiece. Highly
recommended!!!

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

http://www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes
Origine du Groupe : North America
Style : Pop Folk Baroque , Vocal
Sortie : 2008
