Terrakota nasceu da viagem e cresceu com a mistura. Não sabe nem quer saber o que são fronteiras. Considerados os embaixadores da multiculturalidade de Lisboa, são já uma referência da música mestiça e de fusão no cenário nacional e internacional.Detentores de uma identidade musical sólida construída a partir de uma inspiração global em elementos tradicionais e contemporâneos, têm vindo a apurar o seu estilo inventivo, mestiço e bem condimentado. A sua música fala por si, une povos, línguas e culturas. Reivindica, exige e concretiza a dimensão universal do ser humano através de uma consciência política e interventiva vital que intensifica ainda mais a energia do espectáculo.
A semente plantada no Burkina Faso, em 1999, germinou em território português e tem dado frutos pelo mundo fora, entre viagens de pesquisa musical e concertos nos palcos mais importantes do roteiro da world music.O reconhecimento disso foi a recente nomeação para o Songlines Music Awards 2011 na categoria de Best Group. O mapa-mundo é virado do avesso e as fronteiras são varridas por esta música poliglota, como se português, creolo, wolof, espanhol, inglês, francês, árabe, fossem uma língua só. Um passaporte para uma viagem pelo globo em passo de dança ao som de ritmos mandinga, afro-cubanos, soukous, funaná, samba, reggae, gnawa, afrobeat, desert blues, batuque, flamenco, maracatu, música árabe, rap ou chimurenga, e mais recentemente com influências da música indiana.
Os Terrakota passaram o inverno passado a "dubbar" sons dos álbuns antigos e a convidar outros cantores que a banda foi conhecendo por esse Mundo fora, sem medo de entrar por novas e mais ousadas texturas musicais. O  EP “Re-Cooked Sessions” é o primeiro resultado destas experiências. Trata-se da reinvenção de temas dos álbuns “World Massala” e “Oba Train” (a abrir o apetite para um álbum completo de remisturas previsto para o final de 2012) e tem a participação de Mahesh Vinayakram, da estrela de Bollywood Vasundhara Das, Kuthla Khan dos Rajasthan Roots, Hélio Bentes dos Ponto de Equilíbrio e Florian Doucet dos Family Jammin’, Conductor (Ngonguenha, Buraka Som Sistema), Ikonoklasta (Batida, Ngonguenha), K Kota (Nigga Poison) e Beat Laden. Ao contrário do habitual, são os próprios músicos que estão a remisturar, aplicando uma linguagem dub a todo o tipo de ritmos na procura de sonoridades novas, mais planantes e envolventes.

2001 release, a collection of remixes from this intelligent British Electronic outfit led by Jason Swinscoe. Remixes 1998-2000 includes seven reconfigurations of Electronica gems from the likes of Kenji Eno, DJ Krust, and Piero Umilani. Atop their own core sound of bass, drums, and keyboards, the band deftly mixes in samples from the original tracks. The result is a loose-sounding mix of lengthy wide-screen pieces, which conjure up thoughts of Henry Mancini, John Barry, Jah Wobble, DJ Spooky, Herbie Hancock, and King Tubby. Ninja Tune.

Black Sands came out in 2010 to almost universal critical acclaim and worldwide commercial success. Si Green aka Bonobo moved from being an underground producer of impeccable credentials to a
poster boy for a new take on electronic music – contemporary and edgy but also soulful, song-based, sometimes lush but always emotional.



Black Sands Remixed gathers together a group of like-minded musicians and producers to interpret this classic album. Most of the material here has never been heard before (versions of a couple of
the pieces were used as part of Ninja’s 20th anniversary XX campaign) and has been gathered with assistance from renowned DJ and label-head Alexander Nut. Recent Brainfeeder signing Lapalux kicks
things off with a meticulous, sensuous re-work of “Prelude”. Banks fills “The Keeper” with spooky atmospherics. Cosmin TRG re-imagines “Kiara” as delicate heartbeat-house. Floating Points spaces
“Eyesdown” out and adds to the groove, while ARP101 (better known as D&B producer Alix Perez) gives the tune an electronic re-lick and DELS adds heartfelt lyricism to the original.



Later in the record, Machinedrum turns the same tune into hyperactive percussion and echoed loops of sound. FaltyDL shows a subtle, understated exercise in rhythm and atmosphere for his re-work
of “All In Forms”. Mark Pritchard lets in the air on “Stay The Same”, to create delicate, dub-soul. Mike Slott fiddles with the pitching on “All In Forms” to create robot emotion. Blue Daisy cuts
up and plays with Andreya Triana’s vocals until “Stay The Same” really is “Not Quite The Same”. Duke Dumont finishes the record with an incredible use of ambience and orchestral build on his
‘reconstruction’ of “Grains of Sand”. Bonobo himself makes two contributions. “Ghost Ship” (originally given away to promote the XX celebrations) reminds the world of Si Green’s obvious talents,
combining as it does a classic Motown shuffle with lashings of wobbling bass. “Brace Brace” is, quite simply, beautiful, showcasing once again his grasp of instrumentation and tone.

Submotion Orchestra round off a triumphal year with the release of a mini album comprising a hand picked selection of remixes featuring tracks taken from their highly acclaimed debut album Finest

The Finest Hour album was released in June 2011 and was to many one of the finest debut albums of the year. From Gilles Peterson to Jamie Cullum from the Financial Times to the Daily Mirror, and

L’afrobeat, mouvement musical et identitaire né au Nigeria sous l’impulsion de Fela Kuti n’aurait sans doute pas eu l’importance qu’il a aujourd’hui sans Tony Allen. "Black Voices", album sorti
en 1999 s’inscrit dans cette optique. La présence du producteur Doctor L. sur cet opus accentue d’autant plus le travail sur les codes de l’afrobeat. Les nuances de hip-hop et les effets tirant
vers l’electro dub ont offert à ce genre une nouvelle jeunesse. Loin d’être un lifting artificiel, "Black Voices" est un album résolument tourné vers le futur. A l’occasion du dixième
anniversaire de sa sortie, le label Comet Records lui donne un nouvel éclat avec la volonté de transmettre l’énergie des sessions d’enregistrement. Pour avoir un premier petit aperçu, on vous

Ce sont les techniques d'enregistrement de Miles de l'époque qui rendent ce projet possible, et il faut le dire, assez passionnant. Après quelques écoutes, je trouve en effet le projet de Bill
Laswell assez abouti.



La plupart des extraits sont connus (même si certains passages étaient/sont entièrement inédits). Mais le mixage est parfois très différent, ce qui donne à la musique d'autres couleurs.



Globalement, Bill Laswell a suivi deux tendances :

- Présenter un mixage donnant à la musique une certaine modernité (sans la dénaturer) ;

- Rendre la musique plus accessible, moins extrème : "Rated X" est ainsi mixé de façon nettement moins radicale que sur "Get Up With It".



La première plage est une compilation de l'album "In A Silent Way" (lui même totalement remonté) qui fonctionne assez bien. On peut critiquer l'aspect (un peu) New Age du mixage, mais je trouve
le premier solo de Miles remarquablement mis en valeur.



Le reste de l'album est centré sur les sessions postérieures à 1972.

"Get Up With It" est bien représenté : les plages 3 et 4 lui sont entièrement consacrées. Le montage de "He Loved Him Madly" est plus accessible que celui de l'album original, moins malsain, et
plus centré sur les parties les moins abstraites. La longueur de la version de départ (créée à partir de différentes prises) est telle qu'on a pas le sentiment d'écouter une prise lourdement
éditée.

Même s'il est plus présentable, "Ratex X" reste un morceau de fou furieux fascinant.



Le second morceau est très intéressant. Outre un mixage plus worl music de "Black Satin", il nous permet d'entendre "What If", un inédit de Miles où la guitare de John McLaughlin est tout à fait
identifiable. L'ambiance est très proche de "On The Corner".

Le "Agharta Prelude Dub" a depuis perdu de sa nouveauté : on retrouve depuis ce titre sur le coffret "On The Corner" sous le nom de "Turnaround/U-Turnaround".
