By Alexis Petridis  From http://www.guardian.co.uk
Last year, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy announced the band's sixth album would be a "Christian gangsta-rap jazz odyssey, with some ambient rebellious dubstep and face-melting metal flamenco cowboy psychedelia". It tells you something about Muse that it was hard to work out exactly how far his tongue was lodged in his cheek. For one thing, it's almost always difficult to work out how far Bellamy's tongue is lodged in his cheek, as when he told NME he believed in the theories of Zecharia Sitchin, whose big idea was that the human race had been genetically engineered by aliens from the planet Nibiru, or cancelled a series of US interviews on the grounds that he'd heard an asteroid was about to hit America. For another, if any currently extant major band were to be engaged in creating a Christian gangsta-rap jazz odyssey, with some ambient rebellious dubstep and face-melting metal flamenco cowboy psychedelia, it would probably be Muse. Comparisons are regularly made between their oeuvre and that of Queen, Rush and Radiohead: there's an argument that Muse are to pre-Kid A Radiohead what Meat Loaf circa Bat Out of Hell was to Bruce Springsteen. But none of them really capture the sheer level of trenchant preposterousness at which Muse operate. The most apposite comparison might be to say Muse have actually achieved what the Darkness set out to do: conquer the world with music that's clearly meant to be funny, but isn't supposed to be a joke.

Indeed, it could be suggested that the only real giveaways to Bellamy's comic intent were that his bandmates were talking up their forthcoming album as a major sonic reboot – "It's time to move on and do something radically different," suggested bassist Chris Wolstenholme – and that his description didn't actually sound that far removed from what Muse had done previously: they'd already achieved something best described as "metal flamenco" on 2006's Black Holes and Revelations. That said, anyone listening to Supremacy, the opening track of The 2nd Law, might wonder precisely how radical a reinvention Muse have undergone.

The understated single Madness suggested a new stripped-back approach: there's not much to it beyond an electronic bassline, a decent pop song and Bellamy's vocal, which declines to unexpectedly burst into an ear-splitting falsetto (or scream), or proclaim the imminent arrival of the apocalypse, or indeed do any of the things he usually does within seconds of getting near a microphone. But clearly any discussions about toning it down a bit were shortlived. Supremacy's musical DNA is equal parts Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and Wings' Live and Let Die: its idea of restraint is to leave it a minute and a half before bringing the choir in. It should be noted that, Madness aside, The 2nd Law's lowest-key track is Animals, which concludes with what sounds like a recording of a riot in full swing.

In fact, the most obvious sign of change on The 2nd Law is its incorporation of the kind of dubstep produced by Skrillex and dismissed by its detractors as "brostep". It actually meshes with Muse's existing style remarkably well, perhaps because Muse and your average brostep producer are cut from the same cloth in at least one sense: neither of them has much interest in subtlety. Unsubtle or not, the concluding two-part title track – the most obviously brostep-indebted thing here – is thunderously exciting stuff, a boiling mass of fidgety strings, electronic voices and sub-bass wobble.

This is obviously all great rollicking fun, but there are problems with The 2nd Law. You can see why the organisers thought Muse would be the right band to provide the official song of London 2012, but Survival didn't work – partly because it seems to have no tune whatsoever, but mostly because it didn't fit the event. The Olympics turned out to be as much about tiny human stories – from Chad le Clos's dad to Kirani James and Oscar Pistorius swapping nametags – as epic spectacle. With their choirs, string-laden intro, hysterical vocals and lyrics you might characterise as a bit Ayn Randy – "I chose to survive whatever it takes … vengeance is mine … Fight! Win!" – Muse got the scale but missed the humanity. Six albums in, this is a recurring problem: amusing and enjoyable as the aural histrionics are, you do start to wonder what, if anything, they're trying to express, or if it's just bombast for bombast's sake.

Occasionally, you get the sense the band's sound is actually antithetical to genuine emotional impact. Follow Me is a song about Bellamy's baby son: "I will keep you safe, I will protect you, I won't let them harm you," he sings. He obviously means it, but delivered as it is, in a portentous voice that leaves teeth-marks on the scenery, to a backdrop of distorted dive-bombing bass (courtesy of co-producers Nero) and florid synthesiser arpeggios, it sounds like he doesn't. Similarly, it's hard to tell whether there's actual political conviction behind the title track's equation of the second law of thermodynamics with global economic collapse, or if it's just showy grandiloquence, a lyrical counterpart to one of Bellamy's more baroque guitar solos.

None of this stops The 2nd Law from being a hugely entertaining album. Nor will it stop it being a vast success. After all, no one goes to see a blockbuster for its profundity and deep characterisation. They go for the stunts and the special effects, both of which The 2nd Law delivers.

This is one of the first techno/breakbeat style CDs that I've owned, and its been one of my favorites ever since. One of the most popular songs, "Leave you Far Behind" has made appearances in numerous soundtracks for films, games and other media (Such as "The Matrix," "The Jackal", "Mortal Kombat", "Test Drive 6" and so on)...and for good reason, this song is probably one of the best in its genre. Some other highlight songs include "Roll the Dice" and "Neon Ray," both interesting and different and have worked their way into games and movies (i.e. "Need for Speed:HS", "Arlington Road"...etc). Over all, this CD includes music made to get your adrenaline going and others that have a mellow tone, and almost all tracks being good in their own way. This should be a must for someone into tech, breakbeat, and/or rock music.

A computer at his fingertips and a mind full of ideas, pierre-andré pernin started näo in 2002 as a one-man project, joined later by the drummer thibault fellmann, the guitarist jordan daverio
and the video designer matthieu tercieux. so in it's current form näo comprises 4 members. the band's musical influences range from amon tobin and nine inch nails to krush or 65daysofstatic -
over the years näo have gone beyond these influences to amaze audiences at already a hundred concerts and festival appearances in france and germany with their unique, previously unheard
sound.

at the studio as well as on stage, näo develop and shape melancholic and aerial music, exploring moods from contained rage to lyrical digital outbursts. like a surgeon, pierre-andré meticulously
crafts mesmerizing melodies and downtempo beats. his penchant for synthetic layers and for skillfully chiseled keyboard compositions gives his' music a unique and strange atmosphere,
progressively immersing the listener into näo's world. to this already enriched enchantment thibaud and jordan add their rhythmic impulses and abrupt riffs, creating a mixed beast of
electro-noise, melded with brute, highly energetic guitars and spliced with elements of post rock, metal and idm into something very unique and powerful.

with näo the album, näo the band presents a mesmerizing combination of playful electronica and anthemic, impulsive rock elements. join in, and be warned - their electronic odyssey has only just
begun...

The Las, The Coral, The Rascals, etc, autant de destins brisés ou boiteux.

Late (2011) CD by BBTEL

By http://www.farfrommoscow.com

Celebrating the benefits of bad behavior, several of these ditties have been promoted in a related spirit as "songs of protest for children. Good-natured, upbeat compositions - but without
anything infantile." When played live, many of these numbers are designed specifically to get those mischievous kids involved in the show, often by calling out or performing some action
together.

Why the immediate advocacy of noisy rebellion? One would think that children need little encouragement to act up. The specific involvement of rock music here - as the soundtrack to subversion -
seems to be locally relevant, for the following reasons.

If we start with the new album from Samara's Bajinda Behind the Enemy Lines, a few clues begin to emerge. The band's new recording - available this week - is actually called "Late." Something's
evidently not happening on schedule: and indeed, the album has appeared just after the band's virtual collapse. The songs may exist but the ensemble - in its traditional lineup - does not.
They've recently lost a lead singer and are therefore regrouping at a time when promotional obligations would be better served by happy cohesion. And for that reason the album is "late."

The outfit began with big, bold intentions. Bajinda - from start to finish - always seemed to invite parallels with Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses, though interviews led to more frequent nods
in the direction of Placebo, New Order, U.N.K.L.E., and The Streets. The resulting live shows, as we see, were famously grand and optimistic - drawing once again upon that Madchester
heritage.

In a word, Bajinda were (remain?) an outfit both inspired by UK music and potentially of interest to the same shores. As we mentioned before, that love affair with British songwriting traditions
even prompted a northern accent in the vocals of now-absent frontman Pavel Teterin. As the remaining members are currently pondering their future, pronunciation becomes another part of the
decision-making process.

Demo-versions of these songs have been in existence for a while (in some cases for two years); the album, therefore, did not evolve quickly. Both its development and publication reflected a
counterproductive work-rate. With gallows humor, the remaining musicians now say they've learned one good lesson from this entire process: "How not to make an album."

The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

au même moment : You've Come a Long Way, Baby est sorti en 1998, juste avant Surrender (1999) mais peu après The Fat of the Land (1997).
disques.

Sex Pistols.

Bitch Up"). Avec The Fat Of The Land, on assistait à la naissance d'une techno furieuse qui revisitait le punk 70s à coups de lance-flammes et de voix synthétiques. Les poules mouillées n'avaient
qu'à trouver refuge chez Elton John...

The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

Origine du Groupe : U.K

Sortie : 1997

au même moment : You've Come a Long Way, Baby est sorti en 1998, juste avant Surrender (1999) mais peu après The Fat of the Land (1997).
disques.

From Official Site :

Ishi - Through The Trees

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/9168/41796116.jpg

Note : ++

http://www.myspace.com/ishiisound

Origine du Groupe : North America

Style : Electro Alternative

Sortie : 2010

It feels like Ishi  came out of nowhere. The Dallas-based dance-pop band has vaulted to the top of the local music food chain, winning radio contests, legitimately vying for a spot at
Bonnaroo, and becoming a huge local concert draw – all seemingly overnight. But they’ve actually been honing their sound for a couple of years now, working over John Mudd’s folk songs with Brad
Dale’s programming, eventually creating what they call “electro-folk.” Their debut album Through the Trees shows the still-ripening fruits of those efforts.

“Don’t let go of who you are, you came too far” singer Mudd implores on the album’s first track, “Our Time,” doing his best The Sea and Cake impression. The band holds true to the sentiment,
seemingly committed to bringing in Mudd’s folk music to mate with their dance-y electronica, which for the first few songs just means that there’s some acoustic guitar in the mix.
Multi-instrumentalist Dale has said that he wanted to mash-up “Kraftwerk beats with folky harmonies,” and he could have easily mentioned early Depeche Mode and Postal Service as well, especially
on songs like “Exhale” and “New York Charm.”

While much of the music is ready for the dance floor, the folky influence tends to hold back the energy and tempos, making some tracks calmer and more contemplative. Perhaps they’re still too
afraid to go too far in one direction. But then, there are songs like “Come Closer” that are more interested in the lusty bedroom escapades after leaving the dance club.

The folk influence really takes over toward the end of the album, as the acoustic guitar comes more to the forefront and the beats retreat. In fact, “Through the Trees” feels like two different
albums: The first half is the Ishi you see live at the club, and the second half is music for the morning after. As it progresses, Through the Trees starts to sound more like David Bazan’s
Headphones project instead dance music, and they come closest to realizing a full blend of folk and electronica on the final few tracks, and move further away from a party-inducing dance group.
But, the album is actually more interesting as a result, if a little too inconsistent.

“Through the Trees” is a solid debut for a band on the rise, and it gives hints to the fuss surrounding their live shows. But, it’s not full representation of that band as their self-described
“electro-folk” materializes mostly as either “electro” or “folk.” When they figure out how to fully meld their two halves together, they’ll be dangerous. In the meantime, a solid debut is
satisfying enough.

Ishi hosts their album release party Friday at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio in Denton, with PVC Street Gang and White Mountain.
