Pioneer the Light, the first release from Minneapolis based singer/songwriter duo Blue Soul Caravan explore themes of transcendent love, fear, light, darkness, and what it is to be alive on this
playground Earth. Alex Goldfarb and Leela Bergerud create unique harmonies while cultivating a world folk flavor. This music draws upon a lifetime of musical influences (Nick Drake, Ali Akbar
Khan, Ali Farke Toure, Paul Simon, Gillian Welch, Iron & Wine, Low, etc.) as well as more obscure tastes from the Kirtan and sacred world music traditions. Blue Soul Caravan artfully blends
Bluegrass, Sanskrit mantras, and folk overtones with world infused instrumentation. Inspiration for this album spans the mundane challenges of being human to timeless Buddhist dharma teachings,
inviting the listener to remember the more eternal truth of our very being.
Pioneer the Light was produced and recorded by Alex Goldfarb using a simple yet effective recording set up. The flexibility of having full control over the recording environment allowed for
experimentation with unusual pairings of the many instruments Alex plays. Sitar, banjo, guitar, kalimbas, various hand drums, bass and flutes interweave to create a rich yet simple tapestry as a
background to Leela and Alex's lyrical vocal wanderings.
Pioneer the Light features guest musicians Rajhta Ren on piano and organ, Joe Sheehan on double bass, and Gary Waryan on tablas. We sincerely hope this music nourishes and delights you on your
way.

Cet album hommage aurait pu être un pari douteux et discréditer Cocoon, mais la touche si personnelle de ce duo, s’insinuant dans chacune des notes de ces tubes donnent l’alchimie Cocoon et fait
sonner ces hits au plus juste !
On retrouve dans l’interprétation de ces tubes internationaux, la toute douceur et la toute mélancolie qu’on reconnait bien comme la touche perso de Cocoon. Vous savez, ce sentiment d’être bercé
par une mélodie dont les paroles peuvent s’avérer dures et trash, mais cela fait des chansons toutes douces et particulières!
Ainsi vous reconnaitrez en écoutant cet EP, les chansons suivantes : « American Boy » et « Say my Name » pour n’en citer que deux, on vous laisse découvrir le reste.

Son nom d’artiste indique une direction, cfr. "Natty Dread", l’album de Marley en 1974. Comme tout reggaeman, Natty est influencé par l’artiste jamaïcain, mais ce n’est pas l’aspect le plus
marquant de sa musique. Originaire, comme tant d’autres, du nord de Londres, né d’une mère du Lesotho et d’un père anglais, Natty fait un reggae connoté pop, folk, afro, funky, soul. Les amateurs

17 Hippies - Phantom Songs

A sophisticated, quirky band from Berlin who sing in German, French and English, 17 Hippies have spent 16 years developing an unlikely style that mixes French chanson and German cabaret with
Balkan gypsy music and Americana, with a dash of anything from calypso to Middle Eastern styles thrown in. The Hippies are currently a 12-piece band, and they play anything from accordion to
brass, violin to ukulele and banjo, sounding at times like a cool European answer to the equally hard-to-categorise Pink Martini.
Like those easy-going American mavericks, they are excellent musicians and have a fine female singer, Kiki Sauer, who is at her best here with the gently edgy Ton Étrangère, which matches chanson
with what sounds like the muted backing for a spaghetti western. Elsewhere, singer Dirk Trageser tackles eastern European dance influences on the brass-and-accordion-backed Biese Bouwe; a third
vocalist, Christopher Blenkinsop, echoes Leonard Cohen on Across Waters; and there's a jazzy, brass-and-violin reworking of Captain Beefheart's Gimme Dat Harp Boy. A few more songs from Sauer
would have been welcome, but this is a brave and entertaining global fusion that deserves international success.
